Ready to take the lead at AoB PLANTS?

If you’ve ever wanted to run a top-notch, open-access plant science journal, now’s your chance. AoB PLANTS is on the lookout for a new Chief Editor as Professor Tom Buckley prepares to step down this summer.

The AoBP team has been publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research on plant biology and ecology since 2010. The journal focuses on how plants function, evolve, and interact with their environments—whether in the wild or in managed ecosystems.

What makes AoBP stand out? It’s for science, not for profit. That means:

  • Open access – Anyone, anywhere can read the research for free.
  • Low cost – Authors pay just £1,014 per article, one of the lowest rates in the field.
  • Diverse and inclusive – On both sides of the editorial process.
  • Quality over hype – We value sound science and clear writing over flashy claims.
  • Reproducibility matters – We encourage authors to share their data and code.
  • Fair peer review – Our double-blind system keeps things unbiased.
  • Efficiency first – No profit-driven motives—just great science.

AoBP is owned by the Annals of Botany Company and published by Oxford University Press, also a non-profit. It reaches over 3,000 institutions worldwide. With a strong social media presence and a partnership with Botany One, it enjoys bringing the latest plant science news to the world.
